MOUNTAINS of stuff is being sorted and spruced up ready for sale across the Hastings as homes, community groups and businesses prepare to take part in the Garage Sale Trail on Saturday October 26.
One group who will be eagerly participating is The Wauchope Hospital Volunteers who will hold their very large garage sale at the front of the hospital in the High Street.
“We are hoping to raise a substantial amount of money of which every penny will go to furnish the Palliative care unit on which work commenced three weeks ago,” said Wendii Heffernan, Publicity Officer for the Hospital.
“The Hospital volunteers spend many hours’ fundraising every year.
“We have our stall on the first Friday of the month outside the IGA Supermarket and other functions throughout the year.
“We also find the people of Wauchope love their hospital and generously support the stalls and raffles,” said Wendii.
The President of the organisation Roger Adams, the Vice President Win Secombe and Secretary Verna Wallace have all worked tirelessly over the years along with all the other volunteers and of course the Pink Ladies to make the hospital more comfortable and less stressful for the patients.
There is now a coffee machine in the foyer where a cuppa can be purchased for $2 and the profits from this enterprise are donated to this cause.
The hospital has donated some furniture and other items to be sold this Saturday.
Stalls will have bric-a-brac, linen, books, electrical items and much more besides – there will also be a BBQ and a Raffle.
More than 50 garage sales have already listed on www.garagesaletrail苏州纹眉学校.au in Port Macquarie, Wauchope, Laurieton and Bonny Hills.
The Garage Sale Trail is being supported by Port Macquarie-Hastings Council as part of a waste reduction and education campaign. Anyone with goods of any kind to donate to the Wauchope Hospital Volunteers can contact Geoff on 6586 4844 or Ken on 6586 4763.
So far the statistics on the Garage Sale Trail website show 12,000 items will be reused and recycled on the day rather than ending up in local landfill.
Items can also be dropped at the hospital on Saturday morning.
