THREE Lithgow hockey players — Dane Guffogg (under 13 boys), Katie Dowler (under 15 girls) and Brandon Lloyd (under 15 boys) — have been named in the NSW hockey development side.
The trio competed against Queensland in a four match series at Grafton Hockey Complex.
All three players played four games over three days in high temperatures but enjoyed the opportunity to play hockey at state level.
Dane Guffogg from the under 13s had a great series by mainly playing centre forward and scored five goals overall due to his decisive scoring ability to put the ball into the goal when the opportunity came.
Overall Dane’s team recorded four wins.
Katie Dowler played fullback in the 15s and showed her strength on the ball with her tackling technique and stopped the advancing opposition on many occasions.
Her team recorded a draw and three losses.
Brandon Lloyd played wing during his matches and was able to use his speed to get in behind the Queensland defence and offload to help set up goals for his teammates.
His results were one win and three draws.
It was a great learning experience for the trio and will give them a lot of confidence for the 2014 representative season.
The proud parents of the three stars are Angie and Andrew Guffogg, John and Lorraine Dowler and Nigal and Nicole Lloyd.
